Chartered Institute of Building

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is the largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership in the world.  It has a Royal Charter to promote the science and practice of building and construction for the benefit of society, which it has been doing since 1834. Its members work around the world in the development, conservation and improvement of buildings.

The CIOB accredits university degrees, educational courses and training. Its professional and vocational qualifications are a mark of the highest levels of competence and professionalism, providing assurance to both clients and other professionals commissioning building projects.  The CIOB provides this assurance through…

  • Ensuring that its members are trained and proficient
  • Requiring that its members follow best practice processes and standards
  • Providing a wealth of information and continuing professional development training to its members

Stuart Bichard (Managing Director of SIS Construction) is an Incorporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and has a degree in construction management.  He is currently undergoing further examinations and once he has completed and passed these he will become a full Member of the CIOB.

What does this mean for clients and prospective clients of SIS Construction?  You can be assured that your building project is managed by a properly trained and accredited member of the Chartered Institute of Building who will follow acknowledged industry best standards and practices.  Before engaging a construction company for your project you should ensure that the project will be overseen by an incorporated or full member of the CIOB.
